- Connecting Americans to Public Land through Outdoor Recreation
For the past 50 years, the House of Representatives has celebrated the arrival of the Christmas season with an official U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, also known as “the People’s Tree.” Installed in Washington D.C. before Thanksgiving, the tree is a symbol of the season – a time of year that inspires reflection and gratitude; a time that is especially magical for children. Since 1970, the official tree has been presented to the People by the country’s national forests in partnership with their home states, neighboring communities and community partners. For participating states and forests, the opportunity to provide the tree has generated statewide pride, celebration and civic engagement and education.
Choose Outdoors has been the private sector partner in this great American tradition since 2012, helping to bring the US Capitol Christmas Tree from the White River National Forest in Colorado, the Colville National Forest Washington, the Minnesota, the Chugach National Forest in Alaska and the Payette National Forest in Idaho. and change out the photo to this.
